About the event
Shirley Chisholm always said, “If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.” While those words have become the cornerstone of many black women’s professional and personal journeys, there are many who are still fighting for their place at the table. But to be clear, we no longer just desire a seat at the table. We strive to be the ones handing out the invitations.
The I Brought My Chair Conference Series is a battle cry for the current and next generation of black women to take our rightful places in society, to bring our chair to every space we occupy. This year’s theme: Unbossed, but Bothered!, signifies the reframing of the agenda, the resetting of the table because having a seat is no longer enough.
